I am a licensed psychologist in private practice in Bloomington, Minnesota. I have worked in the mental health field for over 17 years - 9 of these years have been since I earned my Doctorate Degree in clinical psychology. I see adolescents and adults primarily in individual therapy, but work using modalities of couples and family therapy as well.

My approach to therapy emphasizes insight, self-awareness and empowerment to help people lead more gratifying lives. We work together to understand the meaning of symptoms and to rediscover your capacity to make the meaningful choices that are right for you. I generally use cognitive behavioral strategies to help promote growth. This method looks at ways of thinking and behaving - focusing on what works and isn't working and making changes accordingly. I also look at the history and underlying issues behind thoughts and behaviors. This can include looking at relationships, identity, self-esteem, and family of origin issues.
